Le comparatif est utilisé pour exprimer un rapport (plus que / moins que) entre deux choses. En général, les deux choses sont précisées dans la phrase ou l'une d'elle est sous-entendue.
Le superlatif est utilisé pour exprimer un rapport (le plus / le moins) entre une chose précisée et toutes les autres choses du même contexte.

Pour les adjectifs formés d'une ou deux syllabes :

  • le comparatif est formé à partir de l'adjectif+er than
  • le superlatif est formé par the adjectif+est

Exemples :

Il existe des exceptions à apprendre.
